The main objective of the ARW is the awareness of the importance of infrastructure hybrid threats and to present some solutions of countering and preventing these types of threats throughout collaboration among participant countries. The ARW will bring academics, policy makers, and end-users together to evaluate requirements and perceptions and to consider ways that the scientific community can provide the solution pathways to meet such challenges.
The mission of the ARW is to propose practical programmes for enhancing critical infrastructure defence and addressing other threats to security in the field. The invited lecturers will include experts with international reputations and expertise in structural integrity, risk management applied in structures, vulnerability assessment and artificial intelligence fields.
The research workshop on “COUNTERING HYBRID THREATS AGAINST CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURES” will evaluate solutions for developing effective governance in support critical infrastructure. This ARW will:
- Assess an overview of existing defence tools and resources
- Provide tools for risk and vulnerability assessment of the critical infrastructure consistent with the SPS key priorities for countering threats to security including:
i) Methods for the protection of critical infrastructure, supplies and personnel
ii) Human factors in the defence against terrorism
iii) Detection technologies against the terrorist threat for explosive devices and other illicit activities
iV) Risk management, best practice and technologies in response to terrorism
